Supporting the places we work and live

 

We appreciate our communities. They are, of course, critical to our business success. It feels right to us to support the places we work and live. It also just feels good to give back. We typically direct our support in three areas: Food Security, Health, and Child Development.

Food Security

Finding ways to help those in our communities ensure they have food to eat is certainly core to our business. We recognize that not everyone finds themselves in a situation to buy food or meals every day. Over the years, we have partnered with local food pantries, and national organizations to help ensure those in need can get assistance when they need it.

WORLD FOOD PROGRAM USA

WFP has been fighting hunger and famine since 1962. In 2015 we were proud that one of stores raised the most money of any KFC location in the country.

FEED MORE

Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and programs, that provide food and services to people facing hunger. We have been a proud supporter of our local food bank for many years and most recently were proud to increase our support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health & Wellness

Keeping our teams, families and communities healthy and well is a top priority for our company. It starts by the healthier food options we make available in our restaurants and extends to our support of local and national organizations that are working to support those with chronic health conditions or just make it fun to move.

AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION

ADA is committed to improving the lives of the 34 million Americans with diabetes. Locally, we have participated on their Community Leadership Board and raised 25% of all the Richmond area Subway donations while owning just under 10% of the stores in the area.

MONUMENT AVENUE 10K

The Ukrop’s 10k is cornerstone community event in Richmond, VA. Our team has happily provided volunteers for this event over the years, helping everything run smoothly.

Child Development

Because we are so future-focused as a company, the next generations in our community are of natural interest to us. Strong, healthy kids are important to all communities, including ours. We have historically supported local programs and organizations focused on building healthy and resilient kids, which sets us all up for a brighter future.

Through our work with Subway, we have happily sponsored local “Standout Coach” programs to celebrate area coaches who do so much for positive youth development.

RICHMOND MONTESSORI SCHOOL

RMS is a premier educational community inspiring academic excellence and nurturing human potential. As Richmond’s only accredited Montessori school serving children from 18 months to 8th grade, we are proud to have been able to support this organization over the past several years.

KFC FOUNDATION, REACH EDUCATIONAL GRANT PROGRAM

The KFC Foundation is an independent non-profit organization that provides charitable support to KFC U.S. restaurant team members through education, hardship assistance, and personal finance programs. We have proudly contributed to the Reach Educational Grant Program, which helps KFC restaurant team members pursue their dreams of going to college.
